About the Left

Deep down, I feel (and have never stopped feeling) that I am a leftist. But times and needs change, and the Left often seems immature despite its long history. I cannot follow it when it abolishes the rules and values that define me. The Left today cannot be a perpetual “no” to everything and still call itself progressive! Nor can it take a one-sided stance in favor of certain races, countries, or movements while ignoring responsibilities, terrorists, and history.... Emotion may define the Left, but it distorts reality and drives rational people away. And let’s not forget… Altruism is good, but everyone has only one life, and many people’s old age requires security… So let’s set aside the labels and adapt to our times.... And finally, let’s stop thinking that the state owes us anything. We owe it far more!
